Tough economic times are affecting everyone – your friends, your family and your co-workers.
People who have never before asked for help are reaching out.
At local nonprofit agencies, government funding has been cut, donations are down, and there is a tremendous demand on services for basic needs.
On the Treasure Coast,
- 88% of local agencies have seen an increase in demand for services
- 58% of local agencies are reporting a decrease in individual donations
Here’s what the agencies are experiencing…
- a 60% increase in demand for services with less funding dollars available
- people are waiting in line 2-3 hours before local pantries open for food assistance, with some individuals being turned away hungry
- 1/3 of all calls to 2-1-1 are for food, rent, utility, and other financial assistance
- More than half of our agencies have waiting lists for services
